Icon5 ifs D35 gears?

so im about to install my BL and 35's. i went to my local 4wd shop to pick up some gears. they recommend i use yokon gears which isnt a problem for me, but they cant find 4.88 ring and pinion set for ifs d35. i found these links but i dont know if either of these are right for my application? Auto Parts: YG M35-488 - High performance Yukon Ring & Pinion gear set for Model 35 in a 4.88 ratio. Yukon exclusively uses 8620 steel in all their Ring & Pinion sets for high strength and long life. They use the latest designs and manufacturing tech
or

basically all i need is a part number to give the shop so they can place an order. are either of these what im gonna need? or am i still not finding what i need?

You don't need reverse rotation gears for the Dana 35 IFS SLA front. On select TTB front you could use em, but not on the IFS front.

And finally the store brand. That website there has pretty much anything you could want as far as gearing and the setup goes.

also, the shop im using wants $450 per diff to install gears. does that seem normal? i was kinda hoping to pay something like $450 for both diffs. or find someone who is willing to work for cash and beer and pay them a visit

Um.. The IFS D35 uses standard rotation gears not reverse cut like the TTB D35's. And i do not believe they make anything bigger then 4.56's for it yet... Maybe I'm behind though. Just because it says Dana 35 Doesn't mean its for your axle.

Are you pulling the diffs and giving it to them? If your not that sounds about right. It might even be a little bit more cause its a pain in the *** to pull the front diff out.

My buddy brought his Toyota 3rds into a shop and they charged him 350 for both.

Who are you taking it to?

i was gonna drop the truck off and let them take care of it, but for $900 id rather pay someone cash on the side and help install.

i wish i had 3rd members, they would make this a whole lot easier!

You can get 4.88's for the IFS D35. But that's the highest you can go. You can do 5.13's in the rear, but not the front.

usually you can find someone around you that will do it for cheaper. i found a guy to do it for 125 per axle pulled out... you gotta ask around and talk to different people and find a deal... i think 450 is absurdly expensive!

Hey Joey....

Just so you know..you CANNOT use 4.88 gears with the Ford Torsen T2 differential you've got in the truck. IDK if you've found that out yet, but I found that out the hard way. Down truck for 2 days because of it. Threw in an open carrier from an Explorer/Bronco/F150 and did the Aussie locker a few months later.

And it's been covered: for 98+ front 35's, standard cut and 4.88 is the deepest you can go/get.

thanks shane,, i did not know the torsen ls will not work
i did find that 4.88 was lowest i can go after some further searching

however i am not getting gears now until the summer probably. unfortunately some other things caught my eye and i am buying them lol. i actually noticed very little difference between 33's and 35's in terms of power, but i have almost NO mpg. ii burn through a TON of fuel arround town but its super awesome on the freeway. so im gonna rock the 4.10 till im a little better off financially and then i buy new gears and i guess a proper locker at that point.

4.56's will work with the Torsen L/S if you want to keep it. It's very tight, but it will work.

Also, I'd definitely go with Yukon gears. Complete Offroad has some great package deals.
