13-54 tcase chain freeplay

looking at my new transfer case today and was wondering when i look through the fill hole and move the chain with a screwdriver, how much play there should be in it?

it moves a pretty decent amount. not sure how much exactly.

It is supposed to have play in it. The slack will tighten up when engaged. It's kinda like backlash on a diff.

yeah but i think there should be a spec, its about 3/4" and it whines in low like a ****

I just pulled mine apart and it had a lot of slack in it as well. The whine in low range would be coming from the planetaries anyway.
