My Ranger xmsn I think is a A4LD
but on the left side is 2 square headed adjustments like on a C5 .Is a A4LD just a modified C5?

1985 thru 1994 Rangers used the A4LD

A4LD is a C3 with OD added
Rangers did use C3's(2WD) and C5's(4WD) in 1983/1984

C5's became the AOD when OD was added

I guess there band adjustments I don,t know. I didn,t think the A4LD had external band adjustments, thus back to question/post #1

Yes, band ajustments

Not sure of your question I guess
Ford used the C3 as the base model to build the A4LD, these were for smaller 4cyl and V6 engine vehicles

The C4 and C5 were for larger engines/vehicles, V6 and V8 full size cars and trucks, and these were the base model for the AOD automatic

Pretty much all the the earlier automatics had external band adjustments, just part of servicing them as the friction material worn down
Newer automatics often have "lifetime" bands with no adjustment, which are replaced when trans is rebuilt, hopefully after 250-300k miles at least, lol
