so im not sure what happened, but its like the linkage broke off the shifter? it feels like it will still go threw the gears, however, once you start it up, put it in N, and release the clutch, it wants to drive, it feel like its stuck in a gear, the truck just stalls out, no gears work, R is useless... please help me, any hints would help!
5 speed transmission in a 94 super cab 4x4 xlt

 

Pull the shifter out and see what you find. You should be able to put into neutral w/ a big screwdriver. Hopefully its just something worn out on the shifter that made it come out of the slot. Also check your trans fluid oil, Ive seen empty transmission seize ito gear before.

 

the guy who had it before me ran the trans without a fill plug in place, so i found one drained the old fliud, and put new stuff in

 

Remember how much fluid you drained out and how metallic it was?
