Front Driveshaft

long time reader first time poster. I just installed the Superlift on my 2006 ford ranger but I havent got the front driveshaft yet. I'm waiting for the factory one to go before I get the new one. Question: I am getting ready to drive from alaska to south carolina and i was wondering if it would hurt anything if i just took the front driveshaft off for the trip?

I dont mean to jack the thread but i have a similar question. i have the 4" superlift also but mine has been on for about 3 years and i did not get the front drive shaft. typically what would be the first sign of the stock drive shaft going out? there has been a rattling sort of sound coming from under the truck for about a year now and i cant figure it out. everyting seems to be fine though so i just left it. now that i think about it i wonder if it could be the front shaft.

Yup thats what it sounds like. Remove it for a day and see if the rattle is gone. That'll give you your answer once and for all.

So when it goes out will it still supply power to the front diff? because i think mine still does. i just dont want to buy a new shaft if that isnt my problem. I dont have access to my truck and wont for a few weeks because im down at school so im just trying to sort this out some other way than by taking it off and driving around if that is possible.
