Welcome to the forum
I guess it depends on what you consider a "big job" You have a Dana 35 SLA, seen here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...a_35_sla.shtml You need to pull the axles(CV) which means disassembling each front wheel to pull them out, and then drop the differential, so pretty big job in my opinion Axle replacement article here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...cv_shaft.shtml You might be able to just pull the axle out of one wheel then drop the differential and pull out the other side?????? |
Front diff
Well I went at it this afternoon and got it out and put back together for the mean time. It's going to rain here for like a week it's saying so hopefully I'll have a replacement this weekend.
so I ended up removing the upper ball joint on the driver side and the breaks and then the axle poped out. The passenger side I removed the upper ball joint and breaks and the tie rod end and the axled poped out of the way then I removed the drive shaft and then the 3 bolts for the diff mounts. All the tools I used where mostly a 13mm and a 15mm, a few extensions, pry bar, hammer, it was pretty easy task to do by my self. Going back up may be interesting https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ran...be37571cae.jpg |
So not a big job for YOU, good work :biggthump
I didn't know they made a two-piece differential, you may be on to something there, oh wait I see a 3rd smaller piece, so may be not Rock, paper, scissors..............I guess Rock What do you think cracked like that? |
Nothing a some duct tape, baling wire and bubble gum couldn't fix :104[1]:

Front diff
I would have to take a guess and say 3rd gear 4low stuck back the powerlines and it just didn't like the angle I was on and to much "full send" when I should have just called for help
