37's FINALLY

So I got a buddy who's wanting to trade my 33's and 35's for his 37's. 37's are brand new tires, not even 500 miles on them yet. Anyways, I'm looking to regear so that it's not bad (had 37's before on my gear = not fun). What would ya'll recomend? I've got a 3.0 (all the bolt on's and roller rockers:footinmou) auto tranny, and the 8.8 with da open 4.10's:footinmou. I do tow, so that can be taken into consideration.

I would go 5.13s due to the 3.0 and auto tranny. Your gonna want a put a LS in the back though, its gonna be fun turning those huge meats when it gets wet up a hill. PICSSSSSS

Kind of wanting to do a locker. But we'll see. I'm hoping to have them mounted before next weekend, we're just meeting at a tire shop and be like "Here, take these tires off these wheels and put them on these and then balance and do the whole thing over again." They should have fun.....

What would a locker for 4:10's cost? And hows the install?

Oh5Edge 06-06-2008 10:35 PM

I just looked at one for 370........It's the Powertrax, cheapest one that Summit has. Then I found some 5.13's new for 200. So, 5.13's wouldn't be a little over-kill?

04blackedge 06-06-2008 10:53 PM

I wouldn't think so. Zachs running 5.13s with his 4.0 auto and loves it. I think that would be perfect for a 3.0

x3 on the 5:13's, especially with the auto/3.0 combo for 37's.

Heck, I'd even go higher than 5.13's if I were you. What kind of tires are they?

i got a flyer in the other day in the mail from 4wheel parts and they had a detroit locker on sale for 199, but i cant find it on their web site... dont know if it was for 8.8 tho. congrats on the 37's and like above, go 5.13 or maybe even lower

jrpro130 06-07-2008 06:52 AM

5.13 for sure. I have 4.88 and 35s, yes your going to run high rpms, but it doesn't matter, your going to ned the power. I sure noticed a power increase. You could definetly do 4.88 and that would be like 4.10's and 33's.

greygooseranger 06-07-2008 06:56 AM

^^^Yeah, but I think 4.10's 33's and a 3.0 would still be a dog, I can't imagine what it would be like with 37's. I would go 5.13 myself....

I've got the Richmond/Powertrax No-Slip. Install was a breeze. Me and my buddy who very little about mechanics put it in 6hrs. counting lunch, rotating tires, and brake adjusments. i paid $340 from rockyroadoutfitters.com

* Rocky Road Outfiitters is a B!tch for shipping. It took litteral 3 months for them to send me the freeking thing. Every time i called it was on "backorder". Good cheap locker if you can wait though*

I'm drawing the biggest blank right now on what brand the tires are.......so I found a picture I snapped.

I'm sure ya'll will be able to recognize that tread pattern and the sidewalls. I'm just........blanking big time.

That's my buddies 4-runner that he recently bought for 5,000. Motor has not even 300 miles since it got bored over and completely rebuilt at the FL Toyota plant and came with a spare front driveshaft.

I think they should "fit" my truck a little better than the doughnuts I have on it. 33's are a tad too small for my truck right now.

37's will look awesome on your truck!
