http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...112&sasel=&id=

anyone know if those will work i nthe front of my truck^^

i think they will just need verification.

rngprerunner 04-12-2006 01:17 PM

Just be sure they are D35 Normal Rotation NOT Reverse, and you should be good to go.

The install kit is another story, from what I'v read the standard D35 install kit (Master or Overhaul, not sure about a standard install) will not work, you need one for the D35 Hybrid specificly...

thanks jason, they should be right, i bought them anyway.

i also found this so it should work.

its normal "cut" not "rotation"

Rangerboy03lvl2 04-12-2006 10:09 PM

dont do 4.88s haha im warnin you not good for a daily driver .... 4.56s will be better rpms were to high with 35s and 4.88s for me to drive the speed limit (75 mph) on the highway 3050 to 3100 rpm at 75 ....

Big04Ranger 04-12-2006 10:43 PM

the 4.88s are for my truck.. he is getting my 4.56.. im movin to 37s when i save enough pennies..

zabeard 04-13-2006 12:44 PM

ya what he said 4.56s should be just right for me. cant wait for them to get in my truck. lol

I broke a Yukon ring gear that was on an Auburn Diff in Detroit Racing sk0ts brother.

zabeard 04-14-2006 08:24 AM

but at the same time i doubt my truck will have the same power urs has. my truck can only dream of that. lol

n3elz 04-14-2006 08:28 AM

I'm using Yukon's and so far so good. Also, if the setup is not right, breakage is very likely with ANY gears, lol.

Are you putting them in yourself? If so, be advised that most Dana diffs have a "carrier break" -- a ratio above which you require a different carrier. If you are using less than 4.10 gears now, you probably need not just the gears, but the carrier.

Furthermore, 4.88's are a PAIN to work with if you're going to put a powertrax type locker in or what-not. Also, on c-clip axles like our 8.8's.

You either have to take the carrier out and remove the ring gear to get the center pin out of the spiders, OR you have to grind a flat on the pin enough to pull it out past the ring gear.

4.88 ring is VERY thick -- the reason for this difficulty.

well the deal is...

scott - big04ranger that lives in indy has 4.56s he wants 4.88s to go with his new 37s

so i talked to him and he is installing the 4.88s i buy in his truck and then installing the 4.56s out of his truck into mine.

so basically we are doing a little swap sometime this summer.

he has motive 4.56s front and rear, and i will have a 4.88s in yukon for the front and 4.88s in motive for the rear.

should all work out great. i hope

n3elz 04-14-2006 08:41 AM

From what I found, the D35 (at least the Jeep rears) break at 3.55 and UP. Chances are you have 3.55 or higher already, so you may not require a different carrier. Not sure if the hybrid front D35's are different than the rears.

zabeard 04-14-2006 08:53 AM

i was told they are very simular. but i also heard the install kits are different as well.

i have 4.10s now. i know scott knows what i need and dont need since he has installed the 4.56s in his. i will try and document what i used and didnt use for future people wanting to regear.

Big04Ranger 04-14-2006 03:15 PM

my ranger came stock with 4.10s... im using stock carriers with the 4.56.. and yes powertrax are kinda tricky even on 4.56, so i know i have my fun cut out for me when reinstall time comes

just so every1 knows i have all the tools needed to set up gears. and have done quite a few gear set-ups

actually, the best way to deal with the crosspin is to grind a small amount off of the gear teeth that get in the way of the crosspin. you should NEVER use anything but a full crosspin on a drop in locker because all of the force goes through that crosspin and cutting it apart will SEVERLY weaken it (why do you think they off a hardened crosspin with them?) however if you grind a small amout off of the one or two teeth that get in the way on the ring gear it in no way will affect the strength of any part in the differential, not even the ring gear because the part that will need to be ground away is not even in the contact path of the gears. here is a picture of mine before and after grinding, and ive been running for 40K miles so far on my lock right and ground gears.

before, you can see where the pin will hit
http://mysite.verizon.net/vze1t7z7/p...r_before_2.jpg
after, you can see how little actually had to be taken off and how it will not affect the gear at all
