So my Ranger clicks into 4 wheel drive. I can hear it going into gear when i turn my 4x4s on but when i give it gas only the back wheels spin. What do you guys think is wrong?

If you have a 98-00 then your hubs aren't locking in and you need to mod your hubs or get manuals.

 

My ranger has a switch in the cab that turns on the 4x4s. I dont have lock hubs

 

Locking them in is part of going into 4x4. There is no seperate switch, but the vacuum system that operates them is ***** to say in the least, so you'll have to open your hubs and mod them, or get manual hubs like I did.

Temporary fix until you get manual locking hubs. Had to do the same thing a little while ago. 2wd after a 40cm snowfall isn't very enjoyable.
