2wd vs. 4wd rear driveshaft

This is likely an easy question, but by any chance is a 2wd ext cab the same rear shaft length as a 4wd ext cab? The 2wd will have the extension housing on it where the 4wd has the transfer case...

i don't think so. the 4x4 shaft probably is shorter than a 2wd. plus, i think the yokes are completely different as well. 2wd has a slip yoke and the 4x4 is bolted to the trans case.

I was more wondering about the length... while I'm pretty sure you're right about the 4x4 shaft being shorter, I could always just swap the end pieces over it they happened to be the same length!

i know a 4x4 trans doesn't have the tail section like a 2wd, the length of the trans case is probably longer than just the tail section.

no they are different, and it has to be a 4x4 extended cab as well.
