Stupid Slave again! Probably

So I get into my truck like five minutes ago to move it for the mailman and guess what? The clutch is acting up again! I turn the key to start and it sounds like the starter was struggling. Then the engine starts and the idle is really low and then the truck lurches forward even with the clutch still down. Of course the e brake was on but still not cool. I tried to take it out of gear with the clutch still down and nothing. It would not budge at all. I had to turn off the truck and let go of the clutch. Then I pushed it down once and everything was all good again. Truck started fine and went in and out of gear just fine. Well this is really pissing me off because the clutch, slave, master, pressure plate and flywheel were all replaced in February of last year. I have had to replace the clutch twice already on my truck and its doing it again. And people wonder why I hate my truck.

Any ideas of what the hell is going on? What else should I change that probably wont help?

P.S.- This all happened after the truck was sitting overnight.

5 speed to auto swap.

But yeah, that's definetly your slave acting up and there's nothing you can really do about it except swear at it and tell it that it's an effing POS and then go and replace it.

I would swap in an auto but I don't really have the space to do it in.

I see it two ways. You either have the worst mechanic skills on earth or you pick the worst places in the world to do the work for you.

I had my clutch replaced and its fine.

Its not like its hard to do a clutch. All is are bolts. Both times a different place worked on it. First time was a Schure tire and the second time was a Ford dealer.

Its a Centerforce so no warranty. I think the slave is to blame. I really don't want to deal with this crap again. I may just trade it in.

we all know it's either slave or master....i changed the slave when the real problem was the master...

No there is no noise at all. It just didn't want to let me do anything. I also don't really want to be dropping the tranny once a year. If I had another vehicle and more room to work then I would swap in an auto.

Nah it wouldn't work. Some places you need ground clearance to get to. Also I can't myself taking such an awesome car on dirt.

only reason i suggested a diff truck that is it seems like the rangers that have the most slave cyl issues is the 4.0 ... and generally people who drive manuals dont want autos ... and i doubt youd be happy with a 3.0

Well the only problem with my engine is the timing chain rattle. Nothing else. It just bugs me that I have to keep fixing the same problem over and over.

christian...

4 years....3 times i've dropped that trans. i'm on year 5 now....

1st time was slave. 2nd was bad trans and installed the spec and new slave too. 3rd was replacing a good slave(problem ended up being the master)

can't get a new hydraulic line w/o getting a new master cyl i do believe...

i too have that rattle....and it's getting worse. i'm presently figuring out if it's worth it to go through new parts and fixing this engine OR getting a low mile newer 'no timing chain issues since its been fixed' engine. im at 100k now, and dont wanna grinade my engine for my lacking of wanting to fix the ching a ling.

I was on parts.com and they sell the line separate from the master. Also when I bought a new master it had a small line that goes to the reservoir. The line I was talking about the line from the master to the slave.

I have kind of a squeak but I think its either the fan clutch or water pump.

That sucks. I have owned my truck since 60k and it has 85k now and I have only had to replace the clutch because it was worn out. I also replaced the slave. I have had zero problems. My 92' F-150 on the other hand was a nightmare. I had that trans out I think 8 times in the 2 years I owned it for slave/master issues. I could pull the trans in 1.5 hrs and it was 4wd. I think you might just have some bad luck. I bought a Raybestos slave from Advance Auto. It has a lifetime warranty. I don't know if you have an Adavance Auto by you, but that is the one I would get. I have had zero problems even in -20 degree temperatures.

Well it did it again this morning. This time it was worse. It struggled to start and even after I pumped it it was hard to shift. Then less than a mile down the road it won't shift at all. I think I'm going to trade this POS in. I'm really tired of this ****.
