4x4 disengaging??
Okay I have a 2007 ranger 4x4 xlt with mods in my signature and it is doing something really weird. When I have been using 4x4 when I go play in the snow, it makes a clunk sound on the drivers side then it goes out of 4x4 because it fishtails like it does in 2wd then when I let off the gas it goes back into 4x4 within a second or 2. I just don't understand. It's a new truck and i've 4x4'd it but never beat it. I'm farely easy on the thing. It does it when in 4x4 high or 4x4 low and sometimes it does it every 30 feet a couple of times or sometimes not for a mile. It is pissing me off. I know you guys are going to say take it in under warranty but just wondering if you guys have any idea what's goin on. What should I tell the dealer so he doesn't say it's my fault or I beat it because I have agressive tires and it may be a little dirty under there so they may think I beat it even though I don't. :frown:

Are you talking about 4wd hi or low? Are you letting fully engage before you start messing around?

Sounds like it might be a hub problem.

This happens in both 4hi and 4lo... Yes I ALWAYS wait till I hear it click and the light go on and even wait a couple more seconds before I go.

When my truck started doing that it was because the t case had some water in it. I changed the fluid and I haven't had any problems. Try that and if its still acting stupid then take it in.

Take it to the Dealer it sounds like something is not engageing , If they ask tell them u only use 4x4 on snowy roads and things they cant deny your claim , unless they have proof you beat the piss out of it or its something not covered by the warrnty .

okay I took it in and they think it's in the transfer case but they decided not to really work on it because of my oversized tires... ugghhh that pissed me off. It's doing it really often now. I was thinking maybe it's the vacuum line but it's connected but I was thinking that because it may build up pressure and have 4x4 work but when the pressure goes away then it pops outta 4x4. Also my 4x4 light is on which is good...
