4x4 lights flashing
 
Hi I am new here I have a 1998 Ford Ranger 4x4 kingcab automatic 4.0 v6 my problem is that sometimes the 4x4 hi and low lights flash 6 times every few minutes and when it does this the 4 wheel drive does not work no clicking nothing just does not work any help would be appreciated thanks.

get rid of the PVH and swap in some manual hubs

that flashing is almost like a CEL for the 4wd system....you need to have somebody who has a scanner of communicating with the control module to see what the problem is...your control module might have taken a crap on you

If your module went out, its expensive to replace. Honestly I would try to find a manual t-case and get manual hubs, the money spent doing that, is way better than replacing parts that will just break again
