I just helped rebuild Tyler (0rangeredge2) 5r44 and its a fairly simple trans to rebuild. trans-go sells a good shift kit for it, and the clutches and bands were replaced. get a good book for it, LS kit, bands, servos, clutches, converter and a shift kit

Do what Justin said. I love my transmission now. Shift pretty smooth part throttle and nice and firm WOT. NicksterSVT does upgraded valve bodies if you want to go that route.

a factory rebuilt trans would be an easy fix, but it will still be weak. the reason im not gonna go that direction is because im in the process of building a prerunner and i have two spare trans in worn out condition that i would like to build up. plus this is one of the things i would like to do before i die.

but thanks for the heads up

Makes sense.

If I had the time to rebuild mine I would have. I still haven't had the time to replace it.
