I am guessing that you asking about the transfer case, right?

Your 99 truck has a 13-54 Electric transfer case. You would need to swap in a complete 13-54 Manual transfer case along with its linkage and shifter. These can be hard to find in good condition because Ford hasn't used the 13-54M for several years (except for the 2002 FX4 and the 2003 FX4 Level II).

I don't know if the swap would cause any problems with the electronics. I don't think so but I'm not sure.

If your manual t-case were to take a crap, would Ford be able to completely replace it or would it be an R&R type situation? A complete new parts etc replacement gives me dirty thoughts; thoughts I can't afford monetarily for my truck. Probably cheaper to just get a manual 03 LII

Ohhhhhhh, no more ideas. Must stick to my plan.

Jey told me that a BW1350 is a manual and you can swap it in.

best bet is to go with a 1354. I beleive theyres even a predetermined spot for it in the floor pan and its a real easy job.

im not quite positive if jey was telling you itde work period, or if itde work as a doubler...

Only problem is you'd have to lose anyhting in the middle to clear the stick... and i'm sure a machine shop could make a shifter for you. All you have to do is remove the electric motor and mount a shifter there. I saw a picture of it once.

nope definately not that easy. a manual case and an electric case are totally different, even the same generla model number (BW1354)

theres BW 1354E and BW1354M.

you can PULL the motor and ghetto fab a setup, but the only ones that ive even heard of were cable setup and ghetto as fawk.

just spend the money on a manual. Ive seen them on Ebay for like 70 bucks plus shipping...

HAha dude gildo show me a manual tcase on ebay that bolts in to the ranger please for 70 bucks. I've seen em as high as 850 bucks.

Also, there's some ghettofab manual electric, basically a guy forces you to send ur tcase to him an dhe rigs up this cable that basically you spin a thingie about 50 times and it pushes the paddle from 2wd to 4hi to 4lo. It's ghetto. Imagine you're 4wheeling and you need 4wd, u spin the cable 50 times.

and after a little double checking, yes 1350s will work as a swap for 1354s. the thing to be weary of:

the slipyoke front driveshaft for the 1350s. they dont use flanges, well some do, and you should hope to be able to get one of those.

now stfu noobie aaron...

and didnt i already say cable setup?!

Damn, that wouldn't even be worth having a manual...lol. Maybe it was a pic of a different case.

I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to go to a stealership and see if they will sell you the flange or if a JY would let you pull it... sometimes they don't want you to pull parts off like that.

ok so its apparent to me that i know very little about transfer cases and stuff of that nature so if someone could go ahead and explaint the whole slip yoke and how flanges come into play that would be much appreciated, i have been thinking about this for the last month or two now that im ordering the manual hubs now........

no offense, but do a little research yourself, please. theres lots of info out there and I dont really want to explain it (someone else might). IMO its easier to learn if you realize the time you spend looking into it...

If you go google the terms you'll get a lot more indepth than

"they allow correct movement of your axles/no binding blah blah"
