8.8 l/s R7 diff

so i installed some castrol 00658-75 80w90 in the diff its a limited slip oil and also added a 114ml bottle of ac delco additive thinking it was needed cause the guy at the parts store said it was needed but my newly swapped 8.8 seems to be one wheel peeling on anything other then snow or wet cement when trying to drift or peel off ... is there too much additive in the thing now or are these limited slips just not strong enough to drift. and peel out with both tires. this is a project truck and would like to drift it as well as have fun with it. no hate please just straight up answers about the diff. i had a welded 7.5 at first and that was fun as hell on the track but i busted the spider gears and was recomended an 8.8 l/s diff which is what i now have under it....

Hopefully, you're on a track drifting and having fun rather than on public roads.

With some people, they say the stock diff LS clutches are just fine for this while others say you'll need to swap in carbon fiber clutches.

To my knowledge, you should add one 4 oz bottle and the rest with your fav gear oil. My ex said smells something awful. I told her it's the smell of victory

A lot of people testify to Royal Purple's 75W-140 with friction modifier added and others attest to OEM Motorcraft 80W-90 (XY-80W90-QL) with Motorcraft Friction Modifier (EST-M2C118-A).

The way it was explained to me is what the friction modifier does is it helps with the engagement LSD clutches become smoother. It doesn't cause the oil to have more or less viscosity, it changes the way it works under varying loads, hence, "modifier" rather than "booster" or even "reducer".

Science stuff

The only thing I can see with too much FM is that it will displace the vital gear oil quantity, but 114ml is 4 oz.

Can anyone else correct me or add in?

Could also be that the clutch's in the diff are wore out and need replaced.

You'll be only a one-legger until then.

Also, 76,000 km isn't a lot. Mine is still functioning at 300,000+ km, but of course, I don't drift or line-lock the thing often. Maybe 10x total in 16 years?

If you want to rebuild yourself, ChrisFix has a vid for you:

i know its not much thats why im asking if maybe theres to much additive due to the castrol being a limited slip fluid and putting in a bottle of additive on top of that

I've heard people say that too much, and it will behave like an open diff, and not enough, it will chatter.

If it were me, I'd drain and refill with the proper proportions to be doubly sure.
