Which transmission is mine?

Hey everyone. I got a question. I have a 2003 Ranger XLT 4x4 with the auto trans. 4.0 liter engine.

I am wanting to change my trans filter, but the dealer keeps asking if I have a 5r55e or a 5r44e. ( I think think those are it. All I knew is one has two 4's and one has two 5's side by side)

Anyhow. I got a flashlight and looked all over that transmission and all I see is:

RFXL2P-700L-AB

750Nm

and another tag that says 1L5P. Can anyone help me decipher which tranny I got?

The dealer can't do it ?
Find another dealer.
If memory serves ,isn't the code for the trans in the VIN ?
I'm not awake enough to search the forums now for the VIN codes.

Just so you know the 5r55e and 5r44e use the same filter kit. At Advance our part # for the 4WD filter kit is FK-268.

I did go to one of my local dealers with VIN in hand, and he fumbled through some books and the computer then told me that the two transmissions carried different filters. So I went back looking for it.

I think that whippersnapper02 has given me the link to the page that will be a lot of help. I am going to go check on it after lunch. I appreciate it guys.
