86 trainy advice

I just got an 86 4x4 with an auto trans. I want to do some trail rideing.(nothing extreme) Some mudding too so I can get to those hard to reach fishing\hunting spots. My transmission is shot. What is the best transmissoin for the use and where can I get one. I have never worked on this new of a ford. I had an old ranger with a 460(70's) but nothing like this. I live in NC.

i suggest you use anything but that tranny. that year was awful for the auto trannys. i would look into a manual tranny swap. im not sure what other autos will bolt up, if any. instead. that A4LD auto is junk, especially that year.
