92 4x4 into 03 body?
92 4x4 into 03 body?
Hi guys. I'm new here and new to Rangers. Just bought a 92 XLT extended cab with 4L 5spd. Electronic pushbutton 4x4/Low.
Just wondering if that drivetrain would bolt into an 03 Mazda B4000 Dual Sport. EXTENDED CAB. It's a 4L 5spd also. Thx!

No
1983-1992 where smaller than the 1993-2011 models, 2" narrower, but frames are same width, just body and axles were narrower
Also 4WD was not a "bolt on" option, there were 2WD frames and 4WD frames, so there are no mounting points on the 2WD frame for a front 4WD axle
You CAN do anything, just takes some welding and measuring to do that conversion, and you could use spacers on the front wheels for better width
The 1992 4.0l is an OHV model, 2003 is SOHC, so different engines, you would need to use the 1992 computer and its engine wiring harness if you swapped engines
You would also lose about 45 horse power, 4.0l OHV was 160HP, 4.0l SOHC was 205HP

There is always the SAS - Solid Axle Swap if you really want a 4x.
The 2x frame lends itself to a SAS.
Some people think if is far easier to but a 4x frame and add the parts as bolt on.
The motor thing... listen to RonD, he is a knowledgable guy.
