92 MTX ranger transmission question
Haven't done too much digging other than a little bit on google.
92 Ford Ranger 5spd 2.3L 2wd.
Based on what little research I have found that would make it an M class mazda transmission correct?
Anyways, the transmission has been pretty solid other than when it first starts up. I assume this from a lack of fluid and would like to just replace the fluid with fresh goodness. I changed the oil last night and when inspecting the transmission there is a rather large, opening like for a clutch pivot joint that seems like it SHOULD be sealed with a rubber grommet or something. This concerns me for obvious reasons and makes me wonder what belongs there? Why would that port have been opened in the first placed?
Beyond the above concern, what amount of fluid and what kind do I need? I have some Royal purple syncomax(I think) sitting in the garage that was going to get used on the G35, but apparently they aren't recommended for the Nissan transmissions.
Anything else I should know and ideas how to seal that port?

Well since no body had any input I did some digging of my own. The 2.3L MTX is the mazda 5spd MTX and used ATF (Mercon III if I remember correctly, will verify when I get home)
dumped the fluid... all of 6 DROPS came out, black as night. I used a fluid transfer pump into the "fill" port and added almost 3Q of AFT. once it started to over flow, I plugged the fill hole back up and made sure it was secure. Transmission shifts like a new car now.
