I need some input guys... Ive noticed that where the rear driveshaft meets the tail of the transfer case there is oil dripping... is it a seal or something else? easy or hard fix???

 

Could be a seal, clean it off and look to see exactly where it's coming from.

 

i would have to take the driveshaft off for that... its not alot but i notice it drip a little durning the day of it just sitting there

 

No you shouldn't have to take off the rear shaft. Wipe the area down real good with a rag on the back of the t-case near the flange... and just start watching it where it leaks from. It sounds to me like the rear pinion seal on the case is bad, easy, and relatively cheap fix.

 

it runs right out from the where the flange is... so it maybe the rear seal.

 

Rear seal is shot easy fix.

 

yup same here...ive got blow back all over, but my tcase is toast just about. rear seal, its 13 bucks i think at autozone...pretty easy.

 

is it easy to get to?? i also need to change the pinion seal on the front diff

 

yea im pretty sure thats the rear pinion seal, i got the same problem but on the front...not so easy to get to up there but for the rear its not too much of a hassle

 

I had Ford do my front pinion seal about a month ago cost me $80. That why there if they screw it up they just keep fixing it.

 

It is easy. Just remember to mark where the drive shaft bolts on the differential and you will be just fine!
