I test drove a 2001 Ranger xlt 4x4 5spd 4.0 4dr ex cab [ red ] 125k.Now you know as much about it as I do ,,,LOL, When going there was an odd sound coming from the right front ,I tought a rock in the tread ,not ,. went out on freeway got it up to speed it was good , Then when we truned off freeway at started back to dealer the stepped down on brake at 60+ and couild actually feel the pedal go up and down on bottom my foot while stepping fairly hard , any Ideas maybe bad rotor and brakes ,I like the truck an am thinking on buying it ,,,,,Thank you 4door

 

good chance a rotors warped. kinda weird though seeing as dealers usually slap new brakes on most cars. my suggestion is ask the dealer if you can run it up to schwabs and have the front end and brakes checked. we do it for free :)

 

could be the abs if you were realy getting into it, but its more of a rapid vibration and you (atleast i do) hear a noise that goes with the rapid vibration.... but i would be more keen to say warped rotors as well. if your interested do as said and take it to get looked at, if its the breaks either have him fix them ( with recipts ) or knock off the price for breaks.

I think you are rite about the rotors being warped, there is some sign's of wear on them to ,they just got the truck in as a trade ,It had some other issue's also but the power difference between it and my 99 with a 3.0 really showed me that I want a 4.0 , Sales man said they had to do a safety inspection on it yet and was going to correct all the problems with it,, as there was some dash lights on like,,, door ajar,, check engine,,, seat belt ... 2001 frod ranger 4.0 5spd xlt ex cab 4x4 ,,4door,, 125k , they want 6995.00 for it hope to pull 5000.00 for my 99 ranger xlt 3.0 5spd excab 2door 112k ,if not keep looking not the last one out there iam sure of that , thanks again for the reply's 4door
