4x4 Motor Not Shifting In Cold

Last year I purchased a 2002 Ranger 4x4. Since im currently stationed in Colorado, it tends to get cold here. During the winter months I've had issues with my 4x4 shift motor not working in weather colder than about 50 degrees until the truck has been running for a while. Once it warms up the motor shifts fine. It also wont shift out of 4x4 if i leave it locked in during the cold until the truck warms up. I've taken the shift motor apart to try and figure out what's going on and I cant find anything wrong with it. No corrosion or anything like that. I'm trying to avoid having to buy a new shift motor. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Have you checked the transfercase fluid? not sure what the ranger needs but it may be worth a check. if the fluid is brand new then I'd say go ahead and pick up a 70$ part and call it a day. More Information for DORMAN 600807

I'm all for fix it vs replace it, but not on a sub 100$ part. I just replace at that point.

Checked the fluid, fluid is fine. Pretty sure I narrowed it down to the control module behind the passenger kick panel. The lights don't come on when i turn the key to on, and there isn't any clicking in the motor when i shift the ****. When i turn the heat on fairly high to the feet/defrost setting and the cab heats up it tends to start working after 15 minutes or so. I guess that will be the next part I check out. Is there any way to test said module? Or should i replace it and call it good?
