Aluminum Drive Shaft?

I have a 2001 Ford Ranger Edge and have the horrible slip yoke binding. Did a regular cab short bed Ranger ever come with an aluminum drive shaft?

Thanks
Zach

I know that there was an issue with the factory drive shafts in those years and Ford replaced them with aluminum ones, but you had to bring it in. My 01 has one.

I know x-cabs usually come with aluminum ones but I was wondering if I could get one for mine.

I think only ex cabs came with alum. ones. All regular cabs i thought only came with steel ones...
