Another 4x4 problem.

My 4x4 lights come on in the dash when I switch to 4hi and 4lo but my 00 Mazda still rides in RWD with no power to the front wheels, I can't hear anything at all when standing outside of the truck and putting it in 4wd.

could it be that it is indicating that you are in 4x4. mine lights up for each 4 hi and 4 low to tell me i am in it.

sounds like something in the transfercase. did you check all the wireing? for corrosion and alike

Bourgeois88 08-21-2006 11:28 PM

Bumpncarstereo, did you even read what I posted?

Anyways, I checked the wiring nothing seems to be wrong, tried switching in and out of 4wd while under the truck and nothing is engaging. Guess I'll take it to the shop.

so you MANUALLY rotated the 4wd switch? if you didnt, its probably the motor. them going out is not uncommon. they are similar in grade to a windshield wiper motor...

Yes I manually switched in and out of 4wd using the ESOF switch, how much would this motor set me back installed?

Do a search. You may not need to replace it, cleaning it usually does the trick. Theres a thread on here somewhere on how to clean them.

Thanks, diocide, i'll clean it as soon as I get the chance, you might've saved me a couple bucks.
