Another believer in the Powertrax No Slip
Installed my No Slip on Sunday. Talk about making me a believer in lockers! I ran it down my friend's muddy farm lane and through the snow in his fields, didn't even need to touch the 4wd switch. It was awesome sending two rooster tails sky high out of the back when I mashed on the pedal!
On road manners are great, I barely (and I mean barely) notice it, and that's when I'm trying to make it engage. Install was easy. The directions that I had off the internet could have been slightly better, and only hit one snag when I couldn't get it to seat properly. With that snag, and copious amounts of screwing off and BSing, total time from wheels up to back on the ground was 3 and a half hours. Now that I know how it goes in, I could easily see it installed in under 2. |
Nothing like it!
Especially if you are coming from an open diff. |
I love mine too. Best performance mod for a 2WD in my opinion. Keep an eye on your driveshaft u-joints if you use it hard though. Lunchbox lockers tend to shockload the drivetrain when switching "modes", and I pulverised my stock u-joints in deep sand a few years ago. Good thing they're an easy fix.
If you ever have to pull it out, make yourself a set of tongs with hooks on the ends out of a coat-hanger to pull the c-clips. Took me about 5 hours of scratching my head on that one. Happy driving! |
This just makes me convinced that I'm going to get one for the 8.8 when I toss that in. All I've heard is good things from this product. My truck is a daily driver so i need the road manners. Thank you for posting this info up.

Thanks for the tips on the U joints. They sure took some abuse when I tested them out, then! Had it just hammered through the field! Haha. |
I bought mine used, so there's no telling what design version it had.

^^^
And the 31 spline is different for the two different cross-shaft diameters used in the 31 sp carriers |
How noticeable is it on the road? I've got a 2010 and I'm looking at this or the factory trac-lok.
|
Barely noticeable. Screw any factory Ford LS, get this. Swapping carries would mean you would have to set up gears. This swaps in really easily.
|
I may do that then. I probably won't go off-road very much in this since I have an ATV and a Jeep, but when I do, I want both back tires to spin. Before last week, I had driven Mustangs for the past 7 years, so I like both tires to spin, lol.
