So im having trouble getting into 4wd. I took the hubs off today and noticed that one hub is all lubed up and the other is not.I remember that the mecanic replaced one hub about a year ago, but I dont rember which one. Should they be all greazy or lightly lubed?

 

There's a quick easy mod you can do to make sure they lock in.... A buddy of mine google'd it and did it... It's like a push button hub. Pretty cool.... The hubs should be lubed though.

 

The hubs should be dry, the grease gum up and the vacumn can't lock them in.

 

I was refering to the surrounding pieces, but yeah, John is correct!

 

So to clarify, the inner pieces should have very little lube. Im talking about the plastic pieces and the gear ring.

 

Yes, on my 99 I used to just spray pbblaster and clean them up. I just left them coated with the pb blaster.
