any pics of welded diff?

does anyone have any pics of where or how they welded their diff?

yeah i second not recomending driving on the road all the time with a welded diff..

Just get a posi unit. You'll be putting a rear end in it anyhow shortly after you weld the gears together.

If you do weld it, I would recommend welding the side and spider gears to the carrier as well as to eachother to strengthen up the carrier and rear end.

right on and thanks for the pics and advice from all.. yeah if i do it it will be for a full time off road truck no street time.. and if it blows out i will be beefing up the rear anyways.. how many people have them blow out? any people with first hand experiences have an opinion to throw in? also what kind of welding unit did you use?

yeah i looked at those too. they work on the same basic principal right? just like seventy bucks or so rather than the five minute electric bill? also on a side note your in oregon too.. they ever do any meets around here.? i was thinking we should put together a drive out to the tillamook forest or something....

ya, but you don't destroy your carrier and spiders. And you can easily un-install it. I have one in my chevy. No meets...people talk, but nothing happens. Welcome to RF! I saw "503" and "541" and thought of oregon!

if your going to weld it make sure you preheat the carrier and the spider gears. I know my buddy bought a cheap oven at a garage sale so he could preheat his, didn't want to make the wife mad and use the one in the house.

thanks.. well i would set up a meet but my ranger is 2wd so i would be screwed in the mountains.. i am trying to put together an old bronco crawler and seeing what all im going to put into it.. ps.. you the guy out in boring on cl selling all the ranger tranny stuff?

ranger tranny stuff??? nope. you talking that bare frame, 3.0, hitch, computer,etc?? nah, but i think i'm buying his control arms/knuckles/cv's.
