slow downshifting.....any fix?

My 99 5spd auto is driving me crazy with how lazy it is to drop a gear when I need it to. I have a VERY short ramp to use getting on the e-way when I leave work everyday and I have to pedal it to get it to drop down low enough to get moving with traffic so I can merge. If I just stuff it will drop 1 gear which aint enough so if I lift very quick and stuff it again it will drop another gear which works better.
Are these trans like the old AOD's where you could tighten the TV cable to quicken/firm up shift points? The first mod I did to my truck was the Trans-go shift kit.It shifts with a frim no slip change,it just wont drop down like I feel it should.

Check the kick down cable if it has it. It may have to much slack in it.

Probably doesn't since its a 99.

I know for a fact that the only way to fix it on your truck is to get a programmer and adjust the shift points.

it has to do with the computer, unhook the battery for a while and try it. see what happens.

mine does it some too, i have alot done to the trans, so i dont think that is it.
