This is pretty bad yeah?

what are the chances my axles are still good? Gonna pull it all apart today and find out anyway but if I have to put in an order for axles the sooner I know the better.

You really just have to slide the axles out and see how the bearing surface looks. I've seen a set of axles where the bearing literally ate into the bearing surface of the axle and completely destroyed the shafts.

Darn sounds like theres a good chance my axles are gacked then eh? Well I will know in the next coupke hours I guess. Money is tight so buying a couple axles at $170 a pop is not a nice thing for me. Cross your fingers for me.

It's very possible. Not sure what your mechanical skills are, but you might want to try the wrecking yard for used axles if money is tight. You might have to pop a couple out before you find a good set, but it would save you some money.

Well the axles I deemed good enough. The surface on that side was just starting to pit. The bearing itself was pitted pretty bad so I'm glad I noticed something was up. There were some flakes of metal in the gear oil that very well couod have come from this bearing. Unfortunately this did not solve the original issue I have been chasing but it does seem to go down the road arguably quieter. I will create a new post with appropriate title for my issue I've been chasing for weeks later tonight.

I'm glad it wasn't worse than it was. You probably caught it in time.

Doesn't Moog make a Problem Solver bearing and axle sleeve just for this type of problem? It doesn't take a whole lot of wear on the shaft for it to be able to move up/down when there's also a bead bearing.
