hey guys im new here got a 2002 ranger edge 3.0 5sp 99000 miles just went to use the 4x4 and when u put load on it i hear a loud thump like its poping out of 4x4 and contunies to do this and 4x4 low doesnt even click on when i chage the selector switch , this is important beacuse im in alaksa and 4x4 is a must and worst come to worst i will sell the truck but dont want to any help is apreciated thanks

 

Transfer case fluid low?

That and you have to have it in neutral and foot on the brake to shift into low don't you?

 

yea im not to worried about using 4x4 low just need high when i click on 4x4 high let out the cluch it engages then when u give it some throttle it pops out of 4x4 then repeats it self . u just hear a loud BANG when it pops out

 

Are u positive the bang isnt it popping in?

 

pretyy sure cuz i was on ice took off in 1st gear 4x4 got great traction than bang spinning like crazy so it seems to pop out

 

o got into 4w low and i can go through all 5 gears fine with no pop out like it does in 4w high if that makes diagnosing the problem easier
