First of all great forum and really good information. I'm looking forward to share some of mine with you guys too. Recently I got me a 94 Ranger 4.0 Splash Edition 2wd with a 5 speed for a real good price and 65K for millage. This baby is my very first truck, I've always been obsess with old school imports but time to move on and join the big MACHO crew....I'm turning 32 and after 30 your little import doesn't make you look as cool as it did when you where 18....no offense just my opinion. Well my 4th gear is gone and need a new tranny. With that said I Know that the tranny is an M50D-R1 and that it came in 88 to 98 Rangers and Explorer and I've read that the M50D-R1HD came in newer Rangers. My question is Witch tranny will fit in my ranger and do I have to change the drive shaft and the tranny computer, if I decide to change it to the M50D-R1HD. Can someone help me with tranny options and years of donor trucks. Thanks a lot in advance.
