Tranny quesitions

What does it mean when the over drive light is flashing on and off? I start the truck up then start driving for about 5-10 mins once the truck warms up the light flashes. Also it seems like it gets stuck in a certain gear. Any help? Thanks

it likely means that your transmission is about to be a paperweight. don't drive it. take it in to get the code pulled. NOW.

x2

It should be around 2k dollars for a new auto (if that is what you have).

O/D light flash is basically saying "your tranny is slipping, stop driving me and bring me in "

Not necessarily.

The flashing O/D light is to the transmission as a Check Engine Light is to the engine. There is a trouble code stored in the PCM for a transmission related fault.

It could be something minor or it could be big trouble. Get the code pulled right away to find out. You may have to go to a Ford dealer because not all code readers can access transmission codes.

If it slips, I wouldn't drive it. If you have AAA get it towed...

It doesn't slip. It graps. It is that it gets stuck in a gear. It feels like 1 or 2 then it is fine.

I don't understand?

It does or doesn't slip, b/c you said it slipped before...now your saying it doesn't.

It gets stuck in a gear? How so?

Thats typical of a transmission with a problem, just take it in...

From experience. Don't drive it, have it towed, get it to a shop ASAP. Tell them to try a "high power lube flush" first, then try other alternatives...
