Blew my transmission
Today i was messin around and bang, reverse doesnt work and just grinds. Clunking and grinding noises in 1st gear but it rolls. I got it taken to my buddy's shop, Offroad Unlimited, for 30 bucks and they are doin a diagnostic for 20 bucks. Anyways im almost sure I blew the main shaft in my tranny.
Correct me if im wrong, but my axle is an M50d-R1? Would I be able to replace it with an M50d-R1HD? Or could I get it rebuilt with the HD parts? |
That sucks!!! Hopefully it won't cost u too much to fix
|
yeah because i really dont have the money to fix it, and i'm not putting it on my parents back. i will just have to wait it out and save up and see what i can do.
wish i could just throw a V8 in it! |
Could have blown your reverse or forward sprag clutches. Reverse most likely. If you were going between forward and reverse quickly it can happen.
Other possibilities too, but if the rear sprag grenades it's a grinder for sure and reverse will be history. |
you have a manual? MT = Manual?
|
The M50D-R1HD was only offered in the 4.0 SOHC. You MUST use use a M50D-R1 from a 3.0.
|
Ha! Well never mind then. I'm in a hurry and not reading very closely.
|
LOL, it happens John.
Yea he has a manual transmission Beard. |
Evan stop beating the crap outta that poor truck! lol
|
yeah ive gone through an axle, clutch, had my spindle snap, remote start and back into a tree, the list goes wayyyyy on.
so the M50D-R1HD would not work with mine? Whats different that wont let it work with my 3.0? thanks |
Oh crap I forgot to call you back! I guess this is what you called me about?
