Body lift with manual transfer case
Who has experience with a manual t-case while being body lifted?
What kind of extension did you make? Did you use the factory shift lever? Also, what will be needed for the shift linkage due to the fact that I'm body lifted? |
i think this thing works on a bl'ed truck but im not 100%. if it does, its an idea..

It hits on the back side of the floor. So I had to trim the hole larger and just left the boot on. It works but not that well and looks a little trashy.

I'm using all the parts from a 2002 FX4 t-case linkage, I just changed the whole shifter set up. Still stock shifters but different boots from a Nissan. I made a new floor plate as well.
Cant find a better picture at the moment, but the tcase does not hit anything and operates smoothly https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1316533246 |
Must be the picture but it looks like 1st or 3rd hits the ashtray and cubbyhole.

nope. Its an fx4 shifter so it dont hit anything. Actually there is quite a bit of room in betwwen shifter and ashtray/ cubby

I used a sawsall on my floor and used a bronco 2 linkage... It was a little short so I cut a copper pipe and slipped it over it.... Works fine for me

What year t-case are you using? And you should only have to cut your tranny inspection plate and carpet. Shouldn't need to cut into the cab floor any.

I am still looking though, but I wanted to get all of my ducks in a row and get all of the other parts. |
Well it can't be an 01. They only made the new style case in 02 and 03. If has the cup style front output on it then its from an 02 or 03. You will probably have a very hard time finding the shifter lever and linkage for it if its the new style, hopefully it comes with the case. The new style is super easy to make an extension for.
If its the old style....pre 98....it will be much easier to find the linkage for it. On this style case the actual shift lever is part of the linkage. I can't imagine it would be too hard to make an extension for this style either. Both will work with a body lift, it will just take a little patience. The boot setup is likely going to give you more headaches than anything else lol. |
