"clink" sound coming from rear drivetrain

It happens when I accelerate after shifting from drive to reverse or from reverse to drive. It started a few weeks ago and was intermittent, but now it happens pretty much every time I go between forward/reverse and reverse/forward. Any clue what could cause this? I don't think it is the slip-yoke because I had that problem and that I could actually feel it - it was more of a clunk coming from right under the driver seat area. This sounds like it is more toward the rear.

I tried to record the sound and upload it to youtube. Check it out... you may have to turn up your speakers. I looped it so it plays the noise a bunch of times. The distinctive "clink" is the noise, the background noise is my keys jingling.

Its more than likely the u-joint at the rear of the driveshaft, where it bolts onto the rearend. Mine does it too.

get under your truck and with a good grip grab your rear drive shaft and try and turn it back and forth. if you can turn it back and forth then its a u joint, also do a physical inspection of the joints too check to make sure the rear flange bolts are tight too

Have someone watch your leaf springs when you do this I bet they move to much. Meaning its axle wrap.

My 99 has one. It was a tsb for the "clunk" issue.
