rear drum/brake issue
I just replaced the drums, shoes and the hardware on my ranger this morning and the passenger side drum acted like it was seized to the shoes. I could move it in and out a 1/4 inch or so but it would not rotate (truck is manual and was in neutral with parking brake off) finally I got it off after prying and beating it with a hammer. I figured it was installed wrong by the previous owner but everything looked right except the shoes and hardware looked brand new except the top portion of the front shoe was down to the metal like it was engaging wrong or something. I took it all apart and reassembled with new parts and drums and the drum would not go on I checked that everything was adjusted down as it was I couldn't make it go smaller so I finally got it on with the hammer (right or wrong that's what I did) and proceeded to the drivers side where again everything looked fairly new but replaced it anyway and it all went back together smooth as butter. I went for a test drive maybe 2-3 miles and when I got back the passenger side was smoking. My question is what could possibly cause this everything is right. This also happened a month ago or so to my buddies dads ranger when he replaced the brakes and he said he just disconnected the parking brake cable from that side and everything worked fine, BTW his was the passanger side as well.
