Clutch is getting stiffer - any ideas??

so i noticed today as i was driving on the interstate that my clutch was getting harder to push after driving for a little while. it was also sticking a little bit when i let it back out. after putting the truck in neutral and pumping the clutch a few times it went back to normal again, but after another 10-15 minutes of driving it started getting stiff again. up until this point it has been slowly releasing higher and higher, like it normally would as the clutch is getting towards the end of its life... and now this happened and i dont know what to think. I checked the tranny and nothing seems to be leaking anywhere. its got me stumped... anyone have an idea as to whats going on.

note - its a 97 2wd with 115,5xx miles on the original clutch. i know its almost done, but i cant figure out the drastic changes in the pedal.
