tans. fluid quesition

Ok my 5spd manual Mazda M5od-R1 transmission calls for ATF fluid, the Mitsubishi transmission in the 2.9 calls for gear lube, so can i use gear lube instead of atf fluid, i think i would lube the trans. better but idk if its applicable with my transmission

no run the ATF thats specified by ford. gear oil is too thick to sling up and get into the tight tolerance bearings inside the trans and it will damage the trans. we just had to re-build the trans in my brother in law's mustang because the previous owner filled it will gear oil instead of ATF and it toasted the trans.
