Clutch noise!!
just finished changing my clutch on the weekend. i replaced everything while i was in there slave, hydraulic lines and master. now when i'm letting the clutch out just as it is engaging i can hear a faint squealing sound?? i goes away once its fully engaged or maybe i just cant hear it any ideas??
Sounds like the throw out bearing. Doesn't sound like you changed it, or the pilot bearing.
Did you happen to bend any of the forks on the pressure plate? |
replaced the slaved and it came pre assembled with a new throw out bearing, replaced the pilot bearing as well. the transmission slid into place smoothly so i dont think bent anything??
oops lol slave not slaved ha
Hmm.... Only thing I can think of, is the clutch isn't fully engaging/disengaging.
If you have to, replace the throw out bearing again and pilot. I still think it's bad pilot or TO bearing. |
i'll drive it for the week and see if it clears up at all i dont really want to have to pull the tranny again. could it be air in the system still??
Not likely.... If you feel there is, the clutch will still be soft and won't feel like it's trying to push back on your foot when you have it pushed it.
You have to pump it really fast for about 10 pumps, then hold, then open the slave bleeder, once the stream stops shut the bleeder then release the pedal from the floor and repeat the process til no air bubbles are in the system. It should be completely clear. Best tool to bleed our tranny's is a 1/4in drive 8mm deep socket on a 4-6in extension. |
did you put the grease they supply on the throw out bearing?
no it didn't come with any?? would not doing that cause damage to the throw out bearing??
your suppose to apply a light coat of it on the throw out bearing. its synthetic grease i believe. mine hums when its real cold out, til i engage the clutch. im not sure if with harm anything not having it on there, but that might be your problem.
well thanks for the info hopefully not applying that grease wont cause any damage.
