not wanting to shift from park

ok so i get in my truck today and start it, and try to put it in drive, gear selector is not moving at all. i could have snapped it in half before it changed gears..

and from having motorcycles and what not i am used to rocking the bike back and forth to get it to "click" into gear, did this with the truck and it freed up after rocking it for a bit...

any ideas as to what could be causing the shifter to stick?

if the tranny is fawkd ill put a c4 in tha damn thing ha

Yeah there is no way I can get my selector into the first gear, I can get it into every other spot fine but overall it is very sloppy. Sometimes it is not all the way into drive and kicks into nuetral as I am driving.

Under the dash on the brake pedal. The switch that operates the brake lights also has a switch that tells the truck that the break is depressed and will allow it to shift out of park. You did have your foot on the brake right?

It wouldn't be the first time I've seen that switch go out, or come unplugged, and cause the very same condition.

Try this. Turn the key to the Start position, but don't start the engine. Try and put the truck into Neutral. If it works start the car and you should be able to drive it to the parts store or a Garage.

Get the switch, and replace.

That's what happened to mine. The 1st garage I went to figured it was the switch but couldn't find the right part, so they informed me of the "workaround" and told me to come back in a couple weeks. Got it fixed like 10 days later and everything worked fine.

ill never take a vehicle to the dealership, they are never straight to the point and no bull****.
but i think that switch is loose because when i just kicked at the brake pedal a bunch i think it got a connection and it shifted into gear.
ha. ford parts just cant handle the abuse i put my truck into haha

i will get a run around since my truck is not stock any more and they will try to void warrenty, if its a 10dollar part that i can fix in 5minutes ill do it myself, and i cannot be without a vehicle for more than an hour during the day since i use it for work..

and jmhm17, ha beatin on an 07 is fun, and i hate stock, nothing i own will ever be stock and ill use the car/truck until something breaks, then upgrade ha
