Honestly it will probably be fine as long as you're not the pedal to the metal type.

no not at all. i like to keep my truck in running order. the only thing i see wrong is that even the detroit locker says the biggest gear is 4.56 but i realize if i run 35s i would need at least 4.88s would that be a big issue?

If you must go with 4.88s you may want to upgrade to the 8.8 afterall. You can get 4.56s or 5.13s for the 7.5 but no one makes 4.88s as far as I know.

Backlash, a bear if you've never done it.

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...g_backlash.htm

I would honestly go grab a 8.8, even a 28 spline will be good, and direct swap. If you want a little more challenge, get an expo 8.8 31 spline, and you can get em cheap and with disc brakes.

I would check out all of the tuts in the gears and locker section of TRS. Good info there.

I would get the EXPO but no access to a welder. If I can find one ill get it. If not ill just get a locker I don't off-road in any super harsh places.

Yeah, I hear you. I'm getting mine finished up this week and should have it in. Welding is the only part that sucks about it.

As for the 7.5 I've been beating on 7.5 with a 302 for over two years, the one I have in now over a year, I wheel hard in the sand and mud and have yet to hurt it at all.

yea im in desperate need of that locker lol i just got back from muddin and my 32's got SWALLOWED by a hole that i didnt see needless to say it took some real fidangling to get out of. to put things in perspective my trucks got about 4-5 in lift and 32s, the bottom of my door was touching the ground. so extra traction is a must have asap
