Cracked Bell housing

Well, last trip I made to the national forest here to do some wheeling, I starting hearing some new noises from the tranny, bad. Thought it was the flywheel, and its not. Dropped the tranny today, and to my surprise it turned out to be a cracked bell housing. Have no clue how it cracked, my speculations is either torque or hit a rock, I was climbing a steep rock face when it happend. So I was wondering what are my options, should I try to take it somewhere and have it welded up, or go to the junkyard and get another one? its the M50D, that sounds right. Or is there any other manual trans that will match up to it besides the one in the now? and that would mount to the t-case as well?
