I don't mean to sound rude either, but did you even read the post?

Yes, I read the post. But for some reason I only seen the part where you typed 98 + automatic transmissions. I'm sorry about that.

In doing a swap will the 4x4 front end fit under a 4x2 truck or would it need modification? I did this swap on an explorer but i had to cut the axle mount rivits out and bolt the needed ones on my keeper. I have a good tranny and transfer case and would love to convert my 92 ranger to 4x4. would be a fun weekend project that would definately improve my ride.

Concerning the OP's truck this is absolutely incorrect! The speed sensor is located in the tranny on all 98+ auto transmissions and in the transmission tailhousing on all 98+ manuals.

My 1997(1996 build) M5OD manual trans has the speed sensor in the tailshaft housing. Same all the way back to at least to '93, I believe. There are several different gear tooth drive gears in the output shaft of the trans that will only accommodate a narrow selection of driven gear tooth numbers. The wrong match will chew up both gears. i.e. a white gear is 7 teeth and will work with 5(I think) different color(no. of teeth) driven gears.
