Don't go chrome... this happens with Chrome
Black silicone will work wonders. Thats what i have on mine.
I'd recommend what I'm running, Mobil 1 75W140.
If you look on the drivers side top part of the differential at the front, right next to the yoke, you'll see the fill hole. Some will say use a pump, I had mine on a lift and dumped it in... 2 1/2 qts when I did it with a full tube of L/S additive.

November. I was doing 40-45 down a 2 lane highway on my way into work when it let go. Apparently Torsen recalled ALL the diffs from early 2002 FX4's, Ford only decided to recall the Rangers with the manual tranny's in 2002. Faulty manufacturing and Ford denied my recall claim because I had an automatic. $1k later, and a nice shiny set of Yukon 4.11's with a Trac Loc I was set.

lol....I wire-wheel'd off the stock paint, gave it some rustoleum primer, about 10 coats of rustoleum "chrome in a can" and about 10 coats of rustoleum clear coat. I did this when I changed the fluid a while back....with the cover off the vehicle.
pic is about 2 years since painting it....
