Regearing...but with 4x4

I know this topic has been covered a lot, but I cannot find information for 4x4. I understand that regearing a 4x4 truck means regearing the front and rear diff, but what set of gears are to be ordered for the front? I have a 7.5 rear, and the front is a Dana 35. I plan to regear to 4.56 and run 33's, but I am also considering running 4.88's with 33's, however I do a lot of on-road driving(highway) but also do off-road.

4.56's if you have the 4.0L.

4.88's if you have any of the smaller motors.

I have a 2.3L,so 4.88 seems to be the way to go. However, when I order the gears would I order a Dana 35 set for the front and a Ford 7.5 for the rear?

^ Yes make sure you get the right rotation for the front though.

Go with 4.56's! 4.88's are overkill! I have 4.10's in my 2.5L with 33's and it was ok. I couldn't imagine having 4.88's.

I don't need an 8.8, the 7.5 doe fine for me.

No, I'll be doing it myself. I just need to find the preload on the pinion bearing/crush washer.

My 2.5L is perfect at 4.10's with 31's. I would hate to see it with 33's on it with 4.10's. Would be a turd.

What year is your truck? Pre 98 would be reverse rotation D35 in the front. 98+ is standard rotation D35

Go with 4.88's no doubt.
