i wouldnt know cause i cant get mine 2 engage lol...well do u think u may know the problem then? everything will spin all the way 2 the hub but it wolnt push w/e part out that pushes the inner gear into the outer gear of the hub any ideas? and no getting full coverage and burning it isint a option haha

djfllmn 11-05-2011 02:15 PM

take the hubs apart and clean/repack the bearings start there

i dont think thats the problem tho the shafts that go in to them are not moving out 2 engage the hubs

djfllmn 11-05-2011 02:20 PM

yea the hubs arent locking in...if you drive the truck with 4hi selected do the hubs get hot?

OTRtech 11-05-2011 02:22 PM

Make up your mind here.
Either the shafts going to the hubs are moving or they aren't.
Like said , repack the hubs. Use minimal grease , just enough to coat the parts.

I'm just going to throw this out there, considering i've just about re-built mine.
CV shafts don't go out into the hubs, Hubs have a spring that grabs the CV shaft once it starts turning.
Easy way to see if your hub is good. take it off, spin the inside of the hub a few times around in a circle. if thats all kosher and nothing falls out, then it isn't your hubs.
Can you verify that the front driveshaft is spinning when you engage 4x4?
and if we're talking about the bearings inside of the Hubs, good luck finding them anywhere, they aren't replaceable, you need to buy the WHOLE outside hub.

yes shafts spin..and auto zone said they have them i just didnt know what size dana it is...auto zone has them unless the girl didnt know what she was talkin bout, but my mom works for a company that can get anything like that and i get them 10% below cost woo!!! im pretty sure the hub isint the main problem here now either but i could be wrong i finally dug into her 2night and found what i hope to b the problem...lets just say i hope i can get all the parts that go on the tip of the shaft...ill post pics tomorrow to hard to explain and to tired to try lol might also even do a write up or a exploded pic atleast

Parts that go on the end of the CV shaft:
Spindle nut, Key in the keyway, assorted washers. Lock ring, then there is another nut that goes on after all of that that's spring loaded to sit on the shaft.
Autozone can sell you the Mile Marker or Warn 4x4 hubs that are manual, which you need a conversion kit because your truck is Automatic locking from the Factory They cost an arm and a leg (about 150 bucks a piece, Conversion kit is another 30 bucks a piece) I got my hubs off of ebay for 50 bucks.
you most likely have a D35 but check here for a more accurate read (http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...ont_Axles.html)
