dual t-cases: 1354/1354 doubler?

So as I've been looking around with my research, I've found that a 1350/1354 doubler is common place. I'm pretty sure I've also read the 1350 and 1354 are similar enough that either can be modified to be used with a 1354 to make a doubler? In the end, can I indeed use a manual 1354 with my existing 1354 for a dual-case setup?

Yes you can. The reason most people run 1350s though is because the parts you'll use for the doubler are virtually the same between the 1350 and 1354, the 1350 is easier to find in a manual and its also cheaper.

If you can locate another manual 1354 then go for it, but if its hard to get a hold of one I wouldn't think twice about using the 1350.
