TH350 3 speed tranny

Anyone have any experience with this trans? Would be mated to a 350 small block, with a D44 in back and D35 in front.

General feedback please...

good trans, so is the TH400, which i believe is a little bit longer and has overdrive if im not mistaken????
but the TH350 can be built to handle some power!! with a crappy build it held up to 680Hp in my buddies old s10 with a 383 blower motor in it.. we never really got on it too hard tho

Th400 is a 3 speed. It is just beefier than the th350. It does take more hp to turn so if you are not going with monster power or huge tires I'd go with the th350.

th350 should be fine for partial dd/trail rig.

you may gernade the D35 if you romp on it hard and hit a solid object haha.

Sounds good to me. I am thinking this rig would be more a DD than a trail rider, as I would have the Mazda for the trails.

If you are going to be using it on the highway I'd look into a 700r4. These have overdrive for the highway and a shorter first gear for a better crawl ratio. You can build them pretty stout for not too much money either.

This truck has the th350 right now.... would it be smarter to pass it up? Or would it be an easy swap

This would get some highway time.

It's not an overly difficult swap as far as swaps go. Most chevy swaps are pretty straight forward. Just type in "th350 700r4 swap" into google and you will get tons of info. It's a pretty common swap.

cj7.. fun fun. you got the dana 300 transfer case?
ha shoot my 83 cj7 i re did(suspension, seats, wheels/tires, some motor stuff, and new paint, and custom bumper) pulled like a raped ape in 4wheel low even with stock gears on 32s haha

i may have a bunch of parts left if you need stuff ha
and if it has not already been done.. do the shackle reversile(sp) and have the solid mount up front.. and you might as well scoot the front axle forward a couple inches for a longer wheel base.
