Clicking from hubs?

So i was driving in town today and was in 2 wheel drive. I decided to switch it in 4 while i was going about 20 ( I like to do that from time to time just to keep things moving) and it sounded kinda funny when it engaged. Then I stopped at a light shortly after that and I heard a clicking sound from the front wheels I'm not a 100% but it sounded like it was it was driver side only. So I put it back in 2 and it stopped, then I pulled over and stopped put it back in 4 and it didn't do it anymore after that. Is that what my junk PVH hubs do when they go out or was it just having trouble engaging in 4 wheel drive for some reason?

I got a crap load of maintenance on my truck to do tomorrow and will check out any ideas that get posted. I checked CV boots and they look fine. Thanks in advance!!

happened to my cousins truck last week. his hubs were bad. that was on an older style truck tho where the hubs were not part of the wheel bearing assy.

I haven't been able to get it to click anymore now all I hear is a squealing sound as the front wheels move and it speeds up as I accelerate.
